When you remove windows and doors you see underneath that nice coat of paint that fresh caulk that someone put down. If you are buying a home, before you call the home inspector, there is something you can do to get a clue about what is underneath.
Open every window; check exterior windows for broken caulk or soft trim in the bottom corners. If windows don’t operate, or you see signs of water damage, ask questions about the service history of one of the home’s most important features. It can’t hurt, and you’d rather know upfront than when a storm or natural disruption presents itself.
